I am not always good with follow through.
Wait, what am I talking about? I am NEVER good with follow through. Let's just say that I start a WHOLE lot and finish VERY little. I am very ambitious by nature and I don't plan on walking away mid-act, it just sort of happens. It has a lot to do with the fact that historically I've had difficulties with self control and holding myself accountable for something that isn't completely necessary to finish (no matter how much I actually WANT to finish it). I think it could easily tie in with a long standing bad habit of procrastination combined with perfectionism but moving on... I've wanted to thoughtfully set intentions for myself for a while now and I was thinking...
Maybe we can do it together!? Even if I don't have a strong readership it will give me a reason to follow through and stick with it, just knowing that I could be held accountable by other people (you lovely readers!)
So what exactly do I mean by 'setting intentions'? I found a quote that defined it quite well. Unfortunately, I didn't document the quoter so I apologize in advance and am not claiming these as my own words.
"[setting intentions means] to have in mind a purpose or plan, to direct the mind, to aim.."
Essentially, we are planting a seed in our minds. Keeping an idea in the forefront of our minds and focusing on it consciously.
So here's what I'm thinking, I will come up with some sort of intention at the beginning of every month. I'll explain some ideas on how to incorporate said intention into our daily lives and we will see what comes from it! Not every intention I set is going to feel right or be a match for every person but I think a month is long enough to get a good idea but not such a long investment to discourage trying at all. (I initially planned on doing this weekly and it was WAY too difficult to keep up with so I'm thinking a month may work better)
You have the power. Play along, don't play along, do some, all, or none. Let's support each other. At the very least we will learn something along the way!
So keep your eyes peeled the 1st for the first installment.
