Monthly Intention- Nature

May 1, 2013

Welcome to the ninth installment of our monthly intention setting rituals.

For more details on what this is all about see this post right over here.
If you missed last months post, or any other I encourage you to check them out over here

Our intention for this month is pretty straight forward:

Spend more time with nature.

Being around nature can have a truly calming affect. The fresh air and sunshine don't hurt either. Not only do I find spending time in the natural world relaxing, I also find it inspiring.

Now this may be easier for some than it is for others. If you spend a lot of time in nature already try something different and see how it feels. If you never spend time in nature you may want to start small first. I'll try to include ideas for everyone so let's give it a shot!

Ways to make it happen:

*Go for a walk. If you can, choose a place with lots of trees or flowers.
*Spend some time in a local park. (You could sit and read a book, draw or just relax and people watch.)
*Do some gardening. (If you don't have space, try planting a small herb garden.)
*Go bird watching.
*Go swimming in a lake/ocean/swimming hole/pond.
*Take pretty nature photos.
*Visit a botanical garden or zoo. (Nature includes animals too!)
*Go camping.
*Try foraging for edibles or going on an plant identification walk. (A word of caution(!) don't eat anything that you don't know for CERTAIN is not poisonous)
*If you live in a more urban setting with minimal options for getting out in nature, try bringing it in. Buy a potted flower or plant. If you don't want to commit to caring for a plant then just buy some flowers for yourself!
*If you have difficulties getting motivated or following through remind yourself of your intention and say it to yourself. Here's an example "I'm going spend more time with nature this month."

Comment with your plans for spending more time with nature!
